Imagine the thrill of a wild river ride, abruptly interrupted! Recently, guests at Disney's Animal Kingdom experienced an unexpected evacuation from the Kali River Rapids. A detailed account of this unique event was shared by the YouTube channel Parents at the Parks.
What Happens During a Kali River Rapids Evacuation?
When an evacuation is necessary, the process is quite fascinating. Cast members begin by draining the ride, ensuring the water level is low enough for guests to walk out without getting soaked. According to Parents at the Parks, this draining process took approximately 15 to 20 minutes. After the water level was suitable, cast members assisted guests out of their rafts and directed them to a waiting area beside the ride track.
Once more guests had been evacuated, the cast members guided everyone in an orderly line along the ride track. The report from Parents at the Parks highlighted the cast members' helpful and friendly demeanor.
This particular incident occurred during the final ride of the evening on January 7, 2026. Three rafts were stopped near the ride's drop.
Kali River Rapids had undergone its annual refurbishment in late 2025. While the exact reason for the ride's stoppage remains unknown, the timing at the end of the day allowed Disney ample time to ensure the ride was fully operational for the following day. Fortunately, the ride is now back to normal operations.
But here's where it gets controversial...
