A beloved obstetrician on the Sunshine Coast is hanging up his stethoscope and forceps after nearly a decade of delivering babies. Dr. George Bogiatzis, a revered figure in the region's healthcare, bid farewell to the maternity ward on December 29, 2025, after a remarkable 25-year career. With over 9,000 babies delivered, his impact on the Sunshine Coast's healthcare landscape is immeasurable.
"The joy of witnessing a new life enter the world never gets old," Dr. Bogiatzis shared. "But my journey in women's health is evolving."
Despite his retirement from the maternity ward, Dr. Bogiatzis remains dedicated to women's health. He will continue his work as a gynaecologist and fertility specialist at Nucleus Medical Suites in Buderim. His expertise covers a wide range of gynaecological issues, including laparoscopic surgery, endometriosis treatment, menstrual disorders, PCOS, abnormal pap smears, contraception, and menopause. Additionally, he brings extensive experience in fertility treatments as part of the Monash IVF Sunshine Coast team, offering assisted reproductive services such as IVF, IUI, fertility preservation, donor-assisted treatments, ovulation induction, and frozen embryo transfers.
"The Sunshine Coast deserves access to highly experienced specialists in these complex areas of women's health," Dr. Bogiatzis emphasized. "By focusing my practice, I can offer more appointments, reduce waiting times, and provide even more personalized care for women requiring gynaecological treatment and those facing fertility challenges."
His decision to specialize further allows him to provide more comprehensive care, ensuring that women in the region receive the best possible support for their health and fertility needs.
