Andrew Cristall's Stellar Performance vs. Hartford
Andrew Cristall had a standout game, recording his seventh multi-point game and scoring his first goal since December 21 in the Hershey Bears' 3-2 overtime loss to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Cristall's contributions were significant, as he earned his first point of the game with just 10 seconds left in the first period, providing a secondary assist on David Gucciardi's wrist shot from the point, giving the Bears an early 1-0 lead.
His impact continued in the second period, where he executed a precise give-and-go with Bogdan Trineyev, beating the Wolf Pack's Callum Tung on his backhand, resulting in his sixth goal of the season. This performance solidified Cristall's position as the team's leading scorer with 28 points (6g, 22a) on the season.
However, the Bears' success was short-lived. Despite their early two-goal lead, they struggled to maintain their momentum, allowing Hartford to score three unanswered goals.
Hartford's Dylan Roobroeck opened the scoring with a well-executed cross-ice pass by Ivan Miroshnichenko, finding the back of the net. Brett Berard then tied the game with a clever move, skating to the middle of the ice and beating Clay Stevenson over the glove. Berard added his second goal in overtime, securing the win for Hartford.
The Bears' head coach, Derek King, expressed his disappointment, stating, 'I didn't like my team tonight. We played solid hockey for 10 minutes of the second period, but then we backed off. We didn't perform as a team, and it's something I'll address.'
Despite the loss, the Hershey Bears will now focus on their upcoming road trip, facing the Charlotte Checkers in back-to-back games at Bojangles Coliseum.
