In a surprising revelation, Alan Cumming recently shared that he unintentionally caused an injury to Pedro Pascal while they were working on the upcoming Marvel film, "Avengers: Doomsday." Cumming, who is set to reprise his iconic role as Nightcrawler from the X-Men series, made this disclosure during his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
The 60-year-old host of "The Traitors" humorously recounted, "What was funny was my first scene with Pedro, he hurt his neck and had to go home. So I broke Pedro." This statement piques interest, especially as many might wonder whether their scene involved any physical altercations. However, Cumming clarified, "No, I wasn’t fighting, no. I was just sort of… being."
While the Scottish actor refrained from divulging too much about the eagerly awaited movie, he did mention that Pascal sought relief through a massage treatment, notably cupping therapy. "He got cupped! Do you know that thing, the cupping?" Cumming asked Kimmel, adding that Pascal showed him the results a few nights later at their hotel.
Excitement is palpable among X-Men enthusiasts, especially after glimpsing James Marsden's return as Cyclops in a newly released trailer for "Avengers: Doomsday." Marsden, now 52, originally portrayed Cyclops, whose real name is Scott Summers, in Bryan Singer's 2000 film, "X-Men." He reprised the character in its sequels, "X2: X-Men United" (2003) and "X-Men: The Last Stand" (2006). Fans were thrilled to see him, especially since Cyclops met his demise in the last movie but made a cameo in the time-travel adventure, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" in 2014.
In this latest installment, Marsden will don the Cyclops costume once more, joining a stellar cast that includes Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. The new trailer features a striking reunion between Professor X and Magneto, depicted playing chess with levitating pieces. It also showcases a tense moment where Cyclops dramatically removes his visor, unleashing an explosive optic blast.
Social media has erupted with excitement over Marsden’s return, with fans expressing their appreciation for the fidelity of his costume to the original comic book design. One user remarked, "I’ve never been a Cyclops fan but I always thought James Marsden was perfectly cast and they did him dirty in the X-Men movies. Glad to see a possible redemption for Avengers: Doomsday." Another fan commented, "James Marsden, you deserved so much more for being Scott Summers," while another shared a gif from the trailer, exclaiming, "JAMES MARSDEN AS CYCLOPS WILL FINALLY BE DONE JUSTICE IN AVENGERS DOOMSDAY RAGHHH!"
Mark your calendars! "Avengers: Doomsday" is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
